Andre Heimgartner Racing looking forward to season ahead.
With the months now turning into days before the inaugural event of the 2010/11 New Zealand motorsport season at Pukekohe Park raceway, business is picking up for 15 year old Aucklander, Andre Heimgartner.
After a successful off-season running in the Victorian Formula Ford championship, Heimgartner has announced the expansion of the team to a two car operation, welcoming the former Toyota Racing Series pilot, Stefan Webling to the family.
Webling, who gained NZ-wide exposure through a third place finish in the 2008/09 Formula Ford season, welcomed the opportunity to utilize the full potential of one of the Mygale's to support the efforts of his teammate. Webling's experience in higher echelons of motorsport will be a valuable asset in the team, who are looking for nothing but the top step of the podium this season.
While both Webling (driving the number 4 08 Mygale) and Heimgartner (no. 5 2010 Mygale) are arguably given one of the best opportunities, thanks to Motorsport Solutions.
The 2010/11 Formula Ford field is stacked with worthy opponents, ready to show motorsport fans New Zealand wide what they have.
The headlining drivers include the 09/10 champ, Martin Short, who is expected to run a few rounds alongside his NZV8 campaign, along with John Whelan - the 2007/08 champion who returns from the NZV8's.
Also returning are the Vickers brothers, with renewed performance and confidence this season, along with Matt Williams who returns this year with the Mygale that took 2010 ADAC Formula Masters champ Richie Stanaway to the title in the 08/09 season.
Last but certainly not least, the 2010 NZ Motorsport Academy winner and possibly one of the hottest driving talents in NZ motorsport this year, Andrew Vincent, who is stepping up from the NZ Formula First class and set to put on a show this season.
With that being said, Andre has been setting the track alight during winter testing, and is looking forward with great anticipation to the first round of the New Zealand Formula Ford championship at the Fujitsu 200 during the 5th -7th of November 2010.
